We don’t use temporary employees at all, but use Area Temps as a temp-to-hire agency to allow us to “audition” employees for skilled metalworking positions. Two of our seven current full-time employees came to us from Area Temps, and both were transitioned to full-time as soon as they became eligible due to their job performance. Most of my interaction has been with Charlie Callen, with whom I have developed a pretty good rapport and working relationship. I’ve always found Charlie to be realistic about our needs as a small shop, and responsive to the somewhat unusual requirements for our employees to be “thinkers” rather than just “doers.” Charlie has visited our shop and takes the time to understand what we’re seeking for each position, then works with the recruiters to feed us only applicants that they feel might meet those needs. We’ll be back as additional staffing requirements for our small company become known. What better recommendation could there be?
